On completion day, the mortgaged amount and the remaining balance of the purchase price is transferred to the seller’s solicitor. As the buyer, you need to ensure that all funds are in place and that any outstanding paperwork is completed.
They are legally required to make sure you understand what might happen if you or your loved ones can’t pay the mortgage. Because of this, they or someone in their team will be qualified and authorised to arrange insurance for you.
You can now move into the the property. Remember to set up your utilities (council tax, electricity gas and water, broadband and telephone) and make sure your buildings and contents insurance is in place.
